Our Vacation in Malta

I took a few pictures of a few of my favorit things in my mums house. When I was still living here, I slept in a room with several mismatched old pieces of furniture. One day I decided to paint all the furniture in pink. The most favorit is this dresser, which was was my grandmother's. The picture is of my mother's when she was only about a year old.

These are my most favorit chandeliers, One with glass drops and the other one seems to be a Capodimonte Chandelier with little cherubs on it.

This table sits in the entry way. Love the little kids.

I am also invited to a wedding tommorrow. I haven't been to a wedding reception in 3 years. This is the pretty wedding favor. Its a small candy bowl that comes in the pretty gift box too.

The fabric in the background is my favorit find here. I bought about 12 meters of it to make curtain sets for our bedroom. Its got pink roses and lilacs on it and its the real thick upholstery fabric too.

This is another wedding favor from a couple who just got married while I was here. They are friends of my brother's. Its a couple of glass bells tied with a silver ribbon. Its real pretty I think.

I can't say I went to Malta and didn't go shopping. 6 weeks is too long not to walk into a market. Here are a few things I found.

Shabby candle holder

Pillow cases sets with cross stitch and needlework.

Italian frames with boy and girl are antique finds.

I wish I had a lot of luggage room for more stuff. I could get carried away really easy here. Especially at the street market at the end of everyweek. Its a square and all side street leading from it full of vendors selling anything from clothes, food and linen and fabric. Thats where I got my fabric for $3 per meter!!! Who can beat that. I even got an extra meter for free :o)

Hey Ya'll

Geez, it has been so long since I posted. I have not been able to find a decent computer to log on. My brother finally got internet on his computer. He applied for it 5 WEEKS AGO!!! The are very efficient as you can tell over here. Oh well!! Wat can one do. So I hopped on today and uploaded a few pictures online. Still have tons more to upload but I might have to wait till I get back to the states till I can do that. I wanted to share a few so I better get started.

Here we go...

These are a few pictures of Mdina. The old capital city of Malta. Its full of historic homes, buildings and Cathedrals. Its was fun taking these pictures.

Now my maiden name is Cardona, a spanish last name that came to Malta with a Spanish Noble Family in the 1400's who bought the island from the King of Sicily who owed the islands at the time. This is the signed deed of the transaction that took place.

I really wish I could carry a scanner with me so I could gather all these old family photos. All I could do was take photos of the same pictures. here is my grandmother with her parents and brother and sister. My Nanna is the youngest one, sitting down. She is now 86 yers old. My great grandma has her long dress and great grampa is wearing his pocket watch hanging on his vest. This is my nanna in her late 20's.

I hope you like these pictures. I am really sorry I deserted all my blogger friends for so long. I have a lot to catch up on. I have another week left here then we will be returning home. This is my little guy with all of his 3 cousins. He is enjoying their company very much and I know he is going to be very upset when its time to leave.

Hello from Malta

Hey everyone,

I hope you are all doing well. We are having a great time visiting here. My son is having a blast with all the kids here... My brothers 3 girls and my girlfriends kids. We have been to the beach a couple of times already, ... ahhhh! I love it. Clear warm ocean water again. The 1st photo is of my son playing on the beach.

Its so good to see family again. Right now the town where I grew up is celebrating the festa for its patron Saint. Which is St Sebastian. That is where I get one of my middle names, Sebastiana. Theres a marching band playing everyday in the streets of town and lots and lots of fireworks. Another thing my son is enjoying a lot, the fireworks. If you have been to spain you might guess what I'm talking about cos its very similar. Here is a picture of some of the fireworks we seen last night. heir like spin wheels with lots of colors. I wish a could take a better picture.

Our flight was ok, tireing but we made it. Thought we were going to run into trouble when the cancelled some flights to UK from US cos of the Security Alerts but we still made it to our final destination on time.

This picture is the street my Dad grew up on. My Nanna and Nannu lived here, both passed away now and their house sold and rebuilt. I can just picture my dad and his other 12 brothers and sisters playing hop scotch and skipping rope on the street on a hot summer evening.

The following picture is my son on the Maltese "Karozzin". You find these in the city and tourists take their city tour on the traditional "Karrozzin"

I am trying to gather a few old photos of my family to scan and show to you. I will have to do that some other time. And I do have more pictures I took to post here. I'm afraid I have to stop here today but I do hope you enjoyed this post and the pictures. I will be back to post some more pictures soon. Take care everyone.

Getting ready!!

Well, the day is getting closer and I am very excited. We'll be leaving on Tuesday, first flight heading to PA, then from there to London Heathrow, then Wednesday we'll catch our flight to Malta. I was born in Malta and lived there till I was 24. Between now and then I been to Malta twice. First time I was back there I met my husband, a US Marine back then.... Second time I made it there with my son, then he was 2 years old. I felt I'm due another visit with my family. I am the only one from my family, living in the US, I started my own new family here. Most of my relatives live in Malta and Australia so I extended our family tree branches to the US :o).
So... I started a blog so I can show you some pictures of life and scenery in Malta. I even bought a better camera OK!!! Anyways, I am very excited and can't wait to share pictures with all of you. And I hope to hear from some of you, don't want to loose touch, we are going to be there for a month and a half.
I hope everyone is having a great summer so far.
